As Christians, we believe that God made us as His own dear children, but human beings fell into sin and were under the punishment of sin and death. God loves us so much He decided to redeem us from sin and death by sending His only begotten Son to live the perfect life we could never live, and take our punishment upon Himself. Jesus suffered and died on the cross and rose again from the dead to redeem us lost sinners.
On our own we do not have the power to believe, so God gave us His Holy Spirit who creates faith in us and gives us the power to believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior, the only way to be saved.
God tells us about His plan of salvation and about His love for us in His Word, the Bible, which is our only source of knowledge about God. Following God’s Word and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we now have the opportunity to do as He asks of us, out of thanksgiving for all the blessings He has granted us. We are saved by grace, and not works!
Where does this grace come from? John 1:14, 16 tells us. "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth...from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace." All God's grace comes to us through His Son Jesus Christ. We look to Him alone for salvation and every blessing from our loving Heavenly Father.
